OZEV EV CHARGING GRANTS
As the UK continues its transition towards electric vehicles, the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) provides a number of grants to help reduce the cost of installing EV charging infrastructure.
Available schemes and funding can change, so eligibility should always be confirmed before installation.
Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grant – Flats & Renters
This scheme provides support towards the cost of installing an EV chargepoint for eligible people who live in a flat or rent their home.
- Up to £500 per chargepoint socket
- Covers 75% of eligible purchase and installation costs, subject to the £500 maximum
- Available to eligible flat owners and renters
- The property must have suitable private off-street parking
- Funding is currently available until 31 March 2027, subject to government terms and availability.
EV Chargepoint Grant for Residential Landlords
Residential landlords can also access support for installing chargepoints at eligible residential properties.
- Up to £500 per socket
- Up to 200 sockets per year across eligible properties
- Available to eligible private landlords, registered providers of social housing, public sector organisations and property management companies acting on behalf of landlords
- Suitable for existing residential properties, including apartment blocks and housing developments
- The property must meet OZEV's eligibility requirements.
Important: This is a replacement for the old Residential Landlord Infrastructure Grant. The previous infrastructure grant closed to new applications on 31 March 2026 and should no longer be advertised as available.
Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)
The WCS supports eligible businesses, charities and public sector organisations installing EV chargepoints at workplaces.
- Up to £500 per socket
- Up to 40 sockets across all sites
- Available to eligible businesses, charities and public sector organisations
- The scheme has been extended until 31 March 2027
- The £500 maximum applies to installations completed from 1 April 2026.
This makes the WCS particularly relevant to offices, hotels, commercial premises, staff parking, fleet facilities and other workplaces.
Workplace Charging Scheme – State-Funded Education
There is additional support for eligible state-funded schools and education institutions.
- Up to £2,000 per chargepoint socket
- Up to 40 sockets across all sites
- Available to eligible state-funded education institutions
- Funding is currently available until 31 March 2027, subject to the scheme's conditions.
Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI)
LEVI is different from the traditional OZEV chargepoint grants. It provides funding to local authorities in England to develop public EV charging infrastructure, particularly for residents who do not have access to off-street parking.
Local authorities use LEVI funding to plan and deliver public charging infrastructure, often through partnerships with chargepoint operators and private-sector organisations.
This can therefore be relevant to councils and organisations involved in delivering public EV charging infrastructure, rather than being a general grant that a business can apply for directly.
Depot Charging Scheme
For businesses and fleet operators operating HGVs, vans or coaches, the Depot Charging Scheme provides significant support towards charging infrastructure at fleet depots.
The first 2026 application window provided:
- Funding of 70% of eligible chargepoint and civil costs
- Up to £1 million across all sites
- The next application window is expected to run from 28 October 2026 to 29 January 2027
- Funding rates and terms for the next phase are yet to be confirmed.
